The Rivers State Ministry of Environment (RSMENV) was established in 2003 to address pressing environmental issues within the state. The ministry’s primary goal is to ensure a clean, safe, and sustainable environment through the formulation and implementation of environmental policies and programs. It works in close collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Environment (FMEnv) and other MDAs and inter-relating agencies to achieve better environmental management and implements it’s mandates. Located on the 1st Floor of the State Secretariat in Port Harcourt, the ministry plays a pivotal role in driving the state’s green economy vision, focusing on ecological preservation and remediation.
